They say the plastic ones are better for a machine that the bobbin lays flat less friction. The metal ones should be used on a machine that the bobbin goes in sideways.

Plastic is fine I have a 1920 sewing machine and it uses both as long as it’s a 66

Idk much, but if you have problems with your tension, you’ll probably want to get the metal bobbins. I think those bobbins may have been made that way for specific reasons for that type of vintage machine. It’s a pretty cool find though!!
