@burnett_outdoors: My worst hatch ever!! I currently have 5 babies and one of them has the bad feet! I was hoping for another butcher before winter, but I guess it’ll have to wait for Spring! . . . . #chicken #quail #incubator #relateable #homestead
Don’t open the incubator to get them out until every single one is hatched! Even if it’s 24 hours or more!

We attempted two hatching with terrible hatch rates this summer. Normally we get 18-20 per hatching but we only got 3 the first round and they didn’t make it. Only two from the second hatch survived. A friend said that once it gets above 95 degrees outside, hatch rates go down. We are trying one more time with fingers crossed!

You’re like almost there but need to tweek a few things to make it actually work successfully. I was suggest a hydrometer too for inside your incubator. Or getting the maticoopx. Best one for its price. And then once they start hatching do not take them out for 48 hours. And then with quail you always need to put marbles or something in the water unless you have one specifically for baby quail. If you know your temp and humidity is good, you wait until they hatch for at least 40 hours from hatching and you put marbles in you should be good. Also, when you go into lockdown, if you would put drawer liner on the bond with the incubator that would help prevent some leg issues as well. You’re almost there. You could check out my videos if you like.

from all I've reached you should leave them in the incubator till they have all hatched. Don't open to get them out after hatching it messes with the humidity for the others

I saw someone say put paper towels in the bottom so their leg/feet don't slide around and splay.

Not sure if this will help you, but Living Traditions Homestead had a bunch of videos on YT about quail and how they raise them. Maybe if you reach out, they could answer some questions.

I put pebbles in my water for my chick's for the first couple days to prevent drowning... you may need to make a sling out of a sock and wrap the legs to get them back into a normal position
