This is my pain. I don’t need to see the code but when I sit in those meetings, I have to be able to explain the system in an accurate fashion, defending every decision and taking feedback back to the appropriate team. Stressful.

The good thing about agents is they help drastically improve the security of systems if you approach is as a specific task. i.e. adding multiple security scans in your CI workflow.

Then the team should learn to understand the code and make sure all implementation are logged and tracked. You might not have to read the whole code but you’d have record of what was built and what wasn’t. We use linear for this in my team.

this will only happen to someone who has never shipped a product before or is super careless. Agents are excellent with writing code, but a good engineer will be able to setup a side documentation by the agent itself which can include a cookbook, exact stack, flows, routes, resources and every aspect of the product

The agent doesn't write all this stuff without a command, so the AI engineer should be able to answer those questions. Better yet, the coding platform itself should be able to answer those questions bypassing the engineer entirely.

You can ask an LLM with an updated knowledge graph of the application a lot of these questions and it will answer them for you. You can ask it to reference the file, create a workflow of all the transformations a record goes through, and even run an adversarial agent outside of its context attempt to prove the reviewer agent wrong to double check.
