Omg thank you for this I’ve never seen a video on what I experience and it’s exhausting. It’s definitely rocd to some degree but I didn’t know what could fix it.

I am obsessed with checking for alcohol. If I know what I’m walking into then I can either prepare or not show up at all. I don’t nag, I don’t lecture, I don’t check receipts. I look at his eyes, know for sure, then go from there.

But what about when you find out they were actually cheating?

If you do this, please listen to him. You don't know how many great relationships or potential partners you're pushing away because your feelings are uncomfortable for you. Making it become someone else's fault/responsibility will never fix it. Like Kabat-Zinn taught us "Wherever you go, there you are."

as someone with bpd, this was incredibly helpful. I’ve ruined a load of relationships when I didn’t want to because of this behaviour. Going to look into ERP. Thank you so much ❤️

Just left my ex for incessant, merciless, accusations of cheating. I never cheated - and yet he did. I assumed it was a massive projection into what he was doing

Checking doesn't buy peace, it just leases ten minutes of relief until your brain demands another hit.

I often wonder if this is a flaw. I’m not remotely jealous about my husband (58 yrs). He travelled abroad for years and could’ve done anything he wanted while away. I just never thought about it ever. I asked myself why waste energy on something that I have no control of. That is his decision to make. I simply think we are fully whole autonomous individual people that need to make our own decisions and deal with our own consequences. Is it odd not to feel jealous? Recently we were out and a woman who he had a relationship with in his very very early 20s (she still lives in a town near us but we wouldn’t meet very often) was in the same place. When I saw them talking together, I thought it was actually gorgeous. They clearly like each other they weren’t horrible to each other, and they can meet and have a conversation. I thought it was a very positive reflection of them both as people. I don’t feel jealous. I found it attractive looking at him talking to another woman that he likes in a respectful manner because he genuinely likes women. He doesn’t see every woman as a potential conquest. Now I’d say if we weren’t together anymore or divorced, I might feel differently, and jealousy would absolutely kick in with the hurt.

I have a history of being cheated on and I did this in my last relationship and well it’s no longer a relationship but I believe he was cheating. I prob should have been medicated.
