@georgieeats: QUINCE 101 - because deserve more of a chance 💝🍐 they are bang in season right now, and if you can get your hands on them, this is my favourite way to prepare them. You can also cook them in a slow-cooker, which is more energy-efficient than than the oven, but I don’t have one! Just a tip for those that do. The poached quinces are really great with yoghurt or ice cream, but come on!! Who doesn’t want a bit of rice pudding. Recipe is on my website! Mwah!
In Portugal we use Quinces to make "Marmelada" and we eat it with cheese (it's a simple dessert called Julieta) or we eat it on bread (with or without cheese).

Quince bread is wonderful addition to a charcuterie board. We also eat it rolled in sugar as part of a platter of Christmas cookies or as a jelly.

I’ve been fascinated by local news stories in the last couple of weeks about a vegetable called a Manglewurzel. Strange looking thing, but I’m fascinated by them.

Nope, you need to let them mature. They get softer and more flavourful.

Us Germans mainly make them into jam and a thick mash we call Kompott. Goes so nicely on a piece of bread of with some vanilla ice cream.
