I was off sick last year a couple times with flu and sickness. I spent ages setting work for different abilities in my class like I normally would but obviously adapted it for a cover teacher. I came back to none of the work having been done and the classroom was a tip

This was filmed last week before I entirely lost my voice and probably should have stayed home but didn’t because I am a silly billy

We’ve been teaching for around the same amount of years I think so I totally get where you’re coming from, I very rarely took a sick day & just got on with it. However my mindset changed when I was diagnosed with a chronic health condition 4 years ago. It doesn’t do me or the class any good if I work through when I probably should be off 🤷♀️it’s tricky but I’m learning to look after myself & not feel so guilty taking days off

I just took 2 days off and went back in today. I couldn’t find my printing and the room was a tip. The kids didn’t do any of the work I set either. It’s such an inconvenience, right?

It’s actually just more work to call in sick 😭 All the pre prep for cover (while sick) and having to go over things again once you’re back (depending on cover you get) 🙃 The only time I’ve been off is when I had the sick bug
