The interviewer asks the guest for his message to President Donald Trump regarding U.S. foreign policy toward Iran. The respondent immediately frames his answer as a message of gratitude, saying he is speaking on behalf of what he describes as millions of his fellow Iranians both inside and outside Iran. He begins by thanking Trump for the actions he took toward Iran and specifically praises what he describes as the courage required to intervene. He acknowledges that taking decisive action in the Middle East is not easy, presenting Trump’s willingness to intervene as the central reason for his appreciation. The respondent then emphasizes the significance he believes these actions could have for Iran’s future. Rather than describing them as ordinary foreign-policy decisions, he argues that they could become an important part of how Trump is remembered in Iranian history. He makes that point directly by saying Trump “will go down in the annals of Iranian history as the most celebrated foreign leader.” He also argues that Trump’s actions “changed the ballgame,” presenting them as decisions that, in his view, had consequences far beyond the immediate situation. The clip ends with the respondent extending that argument to the broader international stage, saying Trump “changed the ballgame and changed the world as a result.” His message is ultimately one of strong appreciation for Trump’s approach toward Iran and his belief that those decisions could have a lasting impact on Iran and the wider world. #DonaldTrump #Iran #USForeignPolicy #MiddleEast - @debate.talk.hall
