I warm up the car for 15 minutes because it’s -35° and I don’t want to be cold while I start driving.

you actually do it for the oil to reach the engine aswell cause in the cold it gets more viscou. also for the engine to get warm so the engine block doesn't crack from the sudden temperature change of cold to 100s of degrees. its still needed just not as long as it used to take

the oil needs time to circulation time, .30-1min in summer, winter cold places 3-5 min

The wolf has been tricked, warming up helps different engine parts get to operating temperature gradually instead of expanding an aluminum piston in a steel cylinder, leaks from base gaskets walking. Plus The ecm has a cold idle ramp up and you throw it in reverse , good luck you bought the lie and tried selling it to us .

I would listen to the rpm. usually it takes 30 seconds to a min for it to idle down.

Kelly_Inchaurregui :
it still takes about 15-45 seconds allows the oil pump to lubricate the moving metal. and forcing heat on cold metal doesn't end well when quickly done

Wait for RPM to settle. If you start driving immediately, not enough oil can get through the engine in time to properly lubricate it. It will be minor damage but over time it can really fuck up your entire engine.

They discuss fuel but not oil. that's why you warm it up.

I drive a 2014 Prius, if I get in and I drive from cold, it has no power. It doesn’t even feel like the engine is performing properly, but if I give it a couple minutes to warm up until it turns itself off and then start driving it. It’s absolutely not the same, your car’s lubricant and oils settle overnight. It’s not about the injection. It’s about lubricating your car and getting it warm so lubricant is slippery. 😁
