She spoke so respectfully about him and these experiences,and I think that speaks volumes compared to the hate she is getting. I was with an addict for 4 years,and I relate to what she shared so much. I was also in my early 20’s,and as uncomfortable as it may be,more young women DO need to hear these stories. You will never ever understand until you deal with it yourself,and I think sharing these things can help prevent others from dealing with it at all.

When you’re with an addict you’re not keep alcohol in the house to just constantly tempt him. It was his choice to relapse but she expected him to just ignore it when it’s in the house

The constant fight or flight being on the other side of addiction is so hard.they’re in the bathroom too long, store run to long, phone goes off in the middle of the night, missing from the bed. It’s all a constant of where are they?why are they in there too long? Who is that? It’s so so so hard and unless you’ve lived it you’ll truly never understand. To love an addict you end up living with there hell just a different kind.
