These three promises changed everything. I actually didn’t set out to “calm my nervous system.” 💁‍♀️ I honestly didn’t even know what that meant when I started this journey. I just knew I needed structure. It began by repeating the same habits over and over again. These patterns created predictability, and the predictability eventually allowed my nervous system to relax. I was creating discipline by keeping promises to myself and those promises changed my life because when your body isn’t bracing for chaos, it stops chasing it. You think more clearly, react less and you make better choices…consistently. They are 👇 1. I stopped numbing myself. This is the first and most important promise I made because I finally stopped trying to escape. I got sober and stopped checking out with alcohol and substances. This single promise restored my ability to trust myself again. Everything else came after this. 2. I started protecting my peace instead of proving my worth. I stopped over-explaining, people-pleasing, engaging with disrespect or chaos and responding to hate or manipulation. 3. I began treating my body like I love it even when I didn’t. It was like fake it till you make it at first. My body felt like it wasn’t even mine and it’s been the best few years getting to know it again. I stopped hurting it and started nurturing it with high protein, healthy fats and Whole Foods and eliminating the crap. I prioritized sleep, self care, tracking my cycle, daily movement, and fasting. These disciplines created self respect and eventually began loving myself. These promises removed chaos from my life, created predictability, rebuilt self-trust and allowed my nervous system to relax. Discipline is freedom and it’s brought me back to me. It’s not rigid or unenjoyable. It’s peace 🌸 #over40 #softdiscipline #transformation #healthyhabits
