@pro.glitch: What an AI agent actually is (5 parts) What is an AI agent, really? It's five parts. Learn them once and every AI tool you hear about starts making sense. The model. The brain. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini. Smart about the world, clueless about your business. Instructions. The job description in plain English. "Refunds under $100, approve. Over that, ask Dana." Context. Everything it can see while it works: your refund policy, the customer's order, their last emails. No context, it guesses. Tools. Its hands. Connections into your inbox and your Shopify store through APIs and MCP. Each tool is one thing it's allowed to do. The loop. Think, act, check, repeat until the job is done. Real example: a customer emails at 11pm, "my order came broken, I want a refund." The agent looks up the order, checks it's $62 and under the limit, issues the refund, confirms it in Shopify, replies to the customer and logs it. Nobody gave it those steps. It worked them out one at a time. That loop is what makes it an AI agent. A chatbot answers once and waits for you. An agent keeps working until the task is finished, and it still stops and asks a human on anything over the limit. Next time someone says they built an AI agent, ask three things. What does it know? What can it touch? Who checks it? #aiagents #aiautomation #aiemployee
