@mallorystuparichmd: this is a big no-no yet, many patients are given estrogen only hormone therapy after hysterectomy eshre guidelines specifically state that "clinicians should avoid prescribing oestrogen-only regimens for the treatment of vasomotor symptoms in postmenopausal women with a history of endometriosis, as these regimens may be associated with a higher risk of malignant transformation" let me know your questions about this. #endometriosis #endometriosisawareness #hysterectomy #hormonesupport #mallorystuparichmd disclaimer: this post is meant for education and is not medical advice. I had a partial hysterectomy (fallopian tubes uterus cervix removed) have both my ovaries and was never given or discussed hormone replacement therapy at all. I was 38 at the time and I had adenomeiosis and endometriosis. What should I be taking?

I’m on estrogen gel so it doesn’t affect me systematically and feel great. Total hysterectomy 2 years ago for adenomyosis and I have endo.

I had a hysterectomy due to endo when I was 34. I’m now 48, peri menopause and am on estrogen gel and cream. I’ve been told I don’t need progesterone because I don’t have a uterus. Is this correct?

Full hysterectomy at 35, no ovaries, stage 4 endometriosis 22 surgeries for endo and I’m still bleeding. 11 years on estrogen and I keep telling my specialist this isn’t working. My pain is worse than ever. No one will help me, only put me on pain killers such as hydromorphone 12mg 9 mg and 6mg amitriptyline, gabapentin and Lupron 3 times.

I had to wean myself off the estrogen patch after realizing on my own that it was causing an endometriosis paradise despite a full radical hysterectomy. My estrogen levels are so high with just the Stage IV Endometriosis, I am still in perimenopause almost 4 yrs after my surgery and being on progesterone daily! 😳

Ok, my Dr is recommending removing my uterus due to my ademyosis but leaving my left ovary so I don't go into full blown menopause. I'm 50 and just so over it. I've already had right ovary removed & ablation. plus Endo lesions removed over 3 surgeries in span of 29 years.

I’m due to get full hysterectomy Nov/dec time. I have endo, adenomyosis & pelvic vein insufficiency and ibs, my bowel is fused to my uterus. I’ve been reading lots of information as I’ve recently been diagnosed with adhd aswell so I’ve read that women with adhd struggle a lot more with menopause as we are already low on dopamine, my surgeon hasn’t mentioned any medication about afterwards yet so any information you have I’d be grateful if you could send my way please xx

So happy my doctor understood progesterone is still needed! I had a hysterectomy (not for endometriosis) and my doctor put me on both estrogen and progesterone HRT!

I have endometriosis. I’m 50 dr put me on estradiol patch and progesterone. Worked for awhile but getting all these periods that massively hurt she suggested I insert the Annovera ring and stop HRT and I’m totally off HRT but haven’t inserted the ring and I’m exhausted and unsure about that thing it stays in for a year.

I refused HRT after my complete surgery because of the risk to have endo back. Also had tumors (breast and liver) prior to surgery that were linked with hormones. I know I will not live as long as I could, but at least, I live pain free now endo related!

My doctor won’t prescribe progesterone so I’m on estrogen only. I had womb cancer and she said absolutely no to progesterone.

I had total hysterectomy due to endometriosis, everything is gone. I only have a vaginal cuff. Due to dryness and thinning vaginal tissue my doctor gave me Vagifem vaginal inserts 10mcg to try. She said this specifically has no risk at all. So are you talking about oral estrogen?
