@karenscatcommunity: GET YOUR CUP OF TEA READY… this one’s a longer one. This was supposed to be our usual “what happened last week” recap, but honestly, there wasn’t really a week to recap. It was just life. Simba is on the mend. So instead, come and spend a little bit of the day with us at KCC. Kittens having their exercise, heating oil that seems to cost an absolute fortune, trying to get the house ready for winter, thinking about Christmas, getting cats to appointments, preparing for vaccinations and neutering, watching Tammy and Sasha slowly figure each other out, and trying to work out where everyone goes next. There’s also little Callie, who has a home waiting for her but still has another month of care with us. Blue has her X-rays coming up. Sasha and Blue are booked in to be spayed. Helena has a vet visit. And then there’s Abigail and Eve, who are still waiting for us to find the right solution for them. And that’s the bit people don’t always see. We can’t just keep moving cats on when there’s nowhere suitable for them to go. We can’t hand a FeLV-positive cat to another rescue when they have no room either. We can’t magic up foster homes, pens, heating, food or vet money. So sometimes… we reach a stalemate. We keep caring for them. We keep trying. We keep fundraising. And we keep getting up the next morning and doing it all again. The JustGiving is now over halfway, which is amazing, but we still desperately need to raise the rest so we can get Abigail the care she needs and keep moving forward. If you’ve got the time, watch this one on 2x speed if you like — but this is the reality of a small cat rescue, (which is slowly becoming more and more of a sanctuary) rather than just the cute kitten videos.
