Working in the creative world as a freelancer is feast or famine. My three kids love what I do. Despite my divorce, when I had cash they got fun stuff. I was so skint after the 2008 collapse I sent £5 to my 14 year old on her birthday. She posted it back with a beautiful letter. “We are in this together”. I bounced back and bought her her first car. It was tricky seeing others give my kids stuff I couldn’t afford. One day I realised why am I worried about other people appreciating how wonderful my kids are? My daughters hit 18 and each set up charities to help others.
