Guy wasn’t scared to fight John he was scared to make a scene in rushville as most likely if anything bad happened guy would lose his ring as well

Yeah, for me while I enjoyed it did feel like they just did stuff because of their lack of budget sometimes, like for example when Hal explains to John in the bar how he got his ring, it would have been nice to see it, or when John gets captured by anthan and the other aliens it would have also been nice to see what they made him see or whenever Hal flew to destroy the satellites that would have also been nice to see, I enjoyed the grounded take but at times I did think it was a little too grounded, and a tiny bit more of sci-fi would have helped

guy knows that everything he has was because jon didn't want it, and he also knows that jon beat the ring off of hal's finger (the only earth lantern for the past 40 years). superman is just another alien to him. sure he's the most powerful being on the planet, but the ring is the most powerful weapon in the universe. plus, the arrogance is a shield, which is broken down when faced with his superior alternative (jon).

Show was really good but I think would’ve been better if it had 10-12 episodes. I like the unique take they’re going for this iteration of DC characters and would like more space action but understand why it didn’t get that in season 1. They leave things for a season 2 or movie where I think it’ll be more space exploration because of bigger budget and fans already being interested in the show. I think a lot of people forget that green lantern hasn’t been in the zeitgeist for a while and didn’t have any good PR. Unfortunately for comic adaptations, you need a casual audience to boost it over the top and this is the best way to get people interested in these characters

I do agree about the black male girl they could’ve left that whole subplot out, and it wouldn’t have changed the story at all. I think the point was that he paid her off, even though he knew that if she went to the sheriff, obviously nothing was gonna happen to him. But yeah, that either needed a better payoff no pun intended or it could’ve been left out entirely. As for guy confronting Superman versus John, I I think deep down he knew Superman wasn’t gonna do anything and even if he did, it was his duty to protect the Earth from Superman if he needed to. With John I think he realized Jon was actually right. He was just the guardians messenger in this situation. He knew there wasn’t really a benefit to having a knockdown drag out with John in Rushville of all places.

i think a little of the negative feedback online also stems from how the past few years tv shows have basically become 6-8 hour movies eg the disney plus marvel shows mostly all just have 1 season but i definitely think this show has layed roots to hopefully break out of that formula
