@fantastic_nerdom: American McGee's Alice (2000) Developed by Rogue Entertainment and designed by American McGee, American McGee's Alice takes Lewis Carroll's Wonderland and transforms it into a disturbing dark fantasy adventure. Alice returns to Wonderland after being traumatized by the death of her parents, only to discover that the once-familiar world has become twisted and dangerous. The game combines third-person action, platforming, puzzle-solving, and combat. Alice travels through surreal environments while battling grotesque versions of Wonderland's creatures using an unusual collection of weapons known as Toys, including the Vorpal Blade, Croquet Mallet, Ice Wand, Jack-in-the-Box, and Jabberwock's Eye Staff. One of the game's defining features is how Wonderland reflects Alice's fractured mental state. Her health is represented by a Sanity meter, while Willpower powers many of her special attacks. The result is a darker interpretation of Alice's story that became one of the most memorable cult games of the early 2000s.
