Sometimes, the person you thought you understood while dating can seem completely different after marriage.
But what if the change isn't always about love disappearing?
Marriage can reveal needs that were easy to overlook before: the need to feel wanted, respected, trusted, appreciated, and allowed to contribute meaningfully. A man can become quieter, less affectionate, or less willing to take initiative—not necessarily because he has stopped caring, but because he may feel that his efforts are no longer received the way they once were.
And sometimes, a woman may genuinely want a man who leads, but unknowingly make him feel that his leadership is only welcome when his decisions match hers.
None of this means a woman should accept poor behavior or stay silent about what hurts her. Healthy marriage requires both people to communicate, respect each other's boundaries, and remain willing to grow.
Because love may bring two people together, but understanding what the other person needs is what helps them stay connected.
Some conversations become uncomfortable precisely because they contain something worth learning.
