When an egg is released, it briefly floats free inside your body before anything catches it. 🔬 This sagittal section through the female pelvis lays out the whole system: the vaginal canal connecting up to the cervix, the body of the uterus, the uterine (fallopian) tube embedded in the tissue, and the ovary itself. Roughly every 28 days, ovulation happens — the ovary releases an egg (technically an ovum). Here's the fascinating part: for a moment, that egg isn't inside any tube at all. It pops off the ovary into open space — the peritoneal cavity (for the anatomy nerds). So how does it get where it needs to go? Look closely at the end of the uterine tube and you'll see these finger-like projections called fimbriae. They move and create gentle currents that sweep the egg into the tube. 🔬 #tiktoklearningcampaign #reproductiveanatomy #anatomy #humanbody #cadaverlab #fimbriae #ovulation #uterus #fallopiantube #anatomyandphysiology #physiology #medstudent #femaleanatomy #humananatomy #ovary #iohaanatomy Follow for more anatomical awesomeness
