Losing my dad is when this all clicked. I had to learn how to move in this world without a crucial person who was there for all of it. It was painful initially, then oddly freeing in a very bittersweet way. It allowed me to let go of past versions of me and see that we will always carry pieces of our past selves, but we continue to grow. The only thing we will always have is ourselves with a rotating cast of characters and loved ones.
