It’s an era of character development. Take note that dialogue outweighed action in the finale… on purpose. It is artistic intent and those who appreciate such a thing are treated to a well delivered example with this show.

The problem with shows based on an existing IP is that for some reason the writers act like the ONLY people that are going to watch it have never interacted with the IP before.

Surf Dracula's entire origin would be in the 90 second theme song after the cold open of the pilot that was entirely unrelated, narratively, to the first scene of the episode.

either that or they bend over backwards with various narrative choices to make it so that even if Dracula gets the surf board, he can't surf. Oh Dracula need to get this one specific can of board wax that his father used so we get a long flashback episode about his abusive dad.
