@earthsignalofficial: Kīlauea's summit eruption on Hawaiʻi's Big Island is still going, with strong glow and flames rising from its vents inside Halemaʻumaʻu crater. On the night of September 30, a shallow intrusion of magma moved beneath the summit. It hasn't reactivated since, but earthquakes continue under the crater and the ground is showing minor inflation. USGS scientists say another lava fountain episode is possible, and lava could even break out in a new spot within the caldera, potentially with little warning. The alert level remains at WATCH. Lava from this eruption, which began in December 2024, has stayed inside a closed area of the crater. #Kilauea #Volcano #Hawaii #USGS #EarthSignal
