Why would they not wait until pups are at least 8 weeks old and then reevaluate.. ? That is unethical especially at a vet with newborn pups .. Why is she at the vet ? This needs legal public intervention .. Are you willing to give details, shelter, dog name, let’s step in ..

It doesn’t make sense that they won’t release her to a rescue. They are not liable for anything that happens after that if you take her on knowing about the bite. I was involved with dog rescue for years and many shelters release dogs in situations like that to rescues so that they can be evaluated outside of the stressful shelter environment, especially when you add puppies into the mix. I know you have to protect your relationship with them but I wish we knew the shelter to we could put some pressure on them. This is really unacceptable. I’m so sorry. ❤️

I really appreciate our shelters, they do so so much and deal with a lot of difficult situations. A blanket one and done in an environment as stressful as a shelter seems like a disservice imo

All I’m hearing is, mama dog acted like a mama trying to protect her babies and now she is being punished for being a good mother. Human mothers can be exactly the same with their human babies (not bite but overprotective) and we don’t get punished for that. This is heartbreaking 💔

Hi. Surgical vet tech for 20+ years. Any animal in a stressful situation like a vet check especially after just having pups should be given grace. I’m sad as well with this decision.
