@the_30_rule: You keep asking me to fix the symptom. The symptom is not the problem. Businesses come to me all the time wanting a symptom treated. Think about going to the doctor with migraines. That doctor can say, here is some medication to take the migraines away. A really good doctor says, let us work out what is causing these migraines and stop it, so you stop having them. Rather than me handing you something to mask one. Same thing in a restaurant, every single time. People come to me with training, systems, leadership, staff not bought in, Gen Z, inconsistency. All symptoms. Every one of them. We do not want to fix those. We want to fix the problem underneath them. Because real efficiency comes from fundamental, root level change. Rethinking how a task is done from the ground up, instead of adding another step onto a broken process. Read that last part again. Adding another step onto a broken process. That is what most fixes are. A new checklist bolted onto a process that was never designed. A new rule stacked on a rule nobody follows. A new hire dropped into a role nobody defined. None of it touches the source. Restaurant training systems get rebuilt from the ground up, or they get another step added. One of those costs a week. The other costs you the same week every quarter, forever. Hospitality training aimed at a symptom will work for about a fortnight. Restaurant leadership is mostly the discipline of asking why one more time than feels comfortable. The fourth why is usually where the actual answer has been hiding all along. Restaurant culture always sits downstream of the problem you decided not to look at. Your retention, your consistency, your reviews, your Gen Z complaint. Symptoms, all of them. Even your turnover is a readout, not a cause, and treating it as one wastes a year. Any restaurant owner can list their top three problems in about ten seconds. Now find the one underneath. #hospitalitytraining #restaurantleadership #restaurantsystems #restaurantowner
