My mom bought me converse, those mf LASTED.. I prolly had 4-5 pairs my whole life mostly due to outgrowing them.. I still have a pair from middle school they’re beat up but no holes

I remember wearing knock off converse I was emo as hell but we couldn’t afford real converse. I was over the moon when I found a used pair of real converse at the thrift store for $3 just my size.

I grew up poor and spent the most of my adult life feeling guilty for doing better financially than my parents and older siblings (I am the youngest). I used to help them out loads but it was never really appreciated only expected. Being poor is a mentality but as a result lived below my means for years. I am now very financially safe and my children understand we have money but we don't waste it either. ( I do love their excitement of a shopping spree though especially when the final bill does not bother me or negativity affect our lives).
