DC is held to so much of a higher standard than marvel it’s crazy. Marvel will put out 4 back to back dookie projects and then give you an avengers or spiderman movie and people are back on the hype. (I can’t wait for ghost rider tho heheee)

This is just a yapfest, people can want an adaptation that respects the comics and still tell a great story. Lanterns fails to respect the comics but tells a good story. Hal is genuinely the most important character in the GL mythos and is disrespected in the show.

Why are people acting like keeping the Sci-fi elements of GL means high budget and CGI heavy? Same thing with good writing/serious storylines and sci-fi or fantasy elements…again they are not mutually exclusive. People with this take are being hella obtuse. Also, I can think the show is good and still want more sci-fi fantasy elements. There absolutely is space for nuance in the conversation about this show.

I couldn’t agree more. I’ve been reading comics and watching them become movies for most of my life. I’m totally OK with an adaptation as long as there’s legitimate passion and care into the character and story. I’m all open to creative liberties. Just don’t betrayed the essence of the character. I feel like the show amplified John Stewart, and hal Jordan.

Mind you the last episode literally clarifies “he is a hero everywhere else (but rushville)” and they’re still saying he was “disrespected”, as though him dying, losing his ring, and going to prison are not all plot points which happen at points in the comics

THATS WHAT IM SAYING. Also with how much slander GL gets, this is a perfect proof of concept that you can make a good show with a character like that. Yeah CGI is a lot of money and with how many people watched, they gonna get a bag for season 2

After seeing John put on the ring and use the lantern and it not light up yellow just explained everything the show was doing. It explained to you why guy isn’t the green lantern in man of tomorrow, the scene right before he charges the lantern telling guy “go get the stars buddy I got the dirt,” was all I needed to realize season 1 was just a backstory for people to understand how junior got his ring. And it also puts out great story line possibility’s for season 2, the Guardians are for sure going to do something about him having Hal’s decomed ring, Noah is still alive plus how do we know that those were the only alien species looking for manhunters, sinsetro is still in the planet filled with fear and not only that if you look into the comics he was chosen 2 times as a green lantern which could be the chance for him to start the yellow lantern core, there’s so many possibilities for this series that’s it’s amazing plus we since we know John is in the next movie we might get some light on what season 2 is going to be about since we already know it’s green lighted,see what I did there green lighted lol, and it can be a total possibility that this movie can lead up directly into season 2 or be right after the events of season 2 universe wise and shows us a more refined John using the ring. Either way for me this show was a solid 10/10 and had my eyes glued to the screen the 1hr episode made it perfect and I have a strong feeling John just might will halogram when he needs him, halogram said it was when his subconscious truly needed it and his will power is crazy. Idk SOOO many possibilities and I have a strong feeling Hal is getting resed and he will be evil who turns to good because of Junior.

I get that people want spectacle but this is just the first season. I’m sure they’ll have more constructs in season 2 but that’s not what season 1 was supposed to be. People are so impatient, they want to skip pass the appetizers and go right to dessert. SMH
