@listings.tips: What if this giant parking lot became 5,000 homes instead of sitting mostly empty? Keep the mall, but turn the surrounding asphalt into an actual neighbourhood. The old parking lanes could become real streets, apartments could be built along both sides, and most of the parking could move underground instead of taking up almost the entire site. The centre could become a huge park, while the existing mall already gives the neighbourhood shops, food, gyms and everyday services within walking distance. Same mall. Same land. 5,000 new homes instead of acres of parking. What else would you add to the neighbourhood? #parkinglot #housing #realestate #architecture #apartments

Make it even more walkable by having the first floor of each building be shops like grocery stores, clothing, pharmacies and other necessities

I’d rather have data centers. You know places that contribute to the economy

What if you don’t want to walk because you live in a place that snows and get below freezing in winter and boils you at 95+ with high humidity in the summer? Walkable is nice for certain areas, not every area. If that’s your thing, great. It’s not everyone’s thing in every climate.

I don’t get why we don’t really build residential apartments over businesses anymore. Customers could use the parking lot during the day and residents could use the parking lot at night

how about instead we institutionalize the homeless. Reducing the amount of drug zombies would make the communities safer, thereby increasing the value of the community

unpopular opinion, but the need for housing isn't bad enough to the point that we need to cover every patch of land with apartments.

You do realize we have millions and millions of acres of just vacant land but now you have to pick a parking lot. Why is that exactly?
