I had a mom once bring us an order barring dad from getting the kids. a few weeks later she comes in with dad. I stop him and let him know we cant allow him inside because the docs we have on file bar him from entry. He was cool about it and went outside to wait. I called my boss (I was the director's assistant) to let her know and (I'm guessing) she called mom to remind her that dad could not come in, per the paperwork SHE gave us. Mom doubled back and got I'm my face and yelled at me saying that I was snitching to my boss. Like, lady YOU did this! YOU went to DCFS and made allegations. YOU made sure we knew. YOU had a whole meeting with my boss about this. and YOU haven't brought us any paperwork saying he's allowed back. Why are you mad at me?

In my experience, parents who bring court orders into a daycare immediately want us to choose a side preferably theirs and the fact is we cannot take sides We simply have to follow the court order with no emotional feelings involved.

These comments are wild. Of course, the daycare should have a copy of the court order especially orders of protection. And mom should be notified of violations. It’s scary when dealing with abusive, controlling men. I always have a plan in place for if he comes at me and I’m just nana.

i had the opposite happen at my old job. mom drove 140 miles to pick her son up, which she had neither custody of nor was it a designated visitation day. she called the cops on us because we had court orders that showed dad had sole custody 😬

This is why I have a policy that if parents try to pull us into custody issues I’ll terminate care. We’ll follow the custody plan but if they start trash talking each other or trying to get our staff to implicate the other parent then they’re done. Bye 👋

I had a crazy lady who was SURE I had her child in my daycare. Her husband had emergency custody or something & she claimed he was keeping her son from her. She was telling people, “I know he’s at Leslie’s daycare. I will be getting my son from her.” Ummm I dont know you, your son or your child’s father, keep that mess far from me!!

I HATED dealing with custody orders when I worked at a daycare. I remember one family that attended the center who clearly couldn't co-parent properly. Both myself & the director had to tell them several times that we couldn't tell them if anybody else was in the car during drop off/pick-up or if anything was said by the child about either parents house

so you know how there’s a name for parents who love getting attention when their kids get sick to the point they make them sick? Well, I think there should be a name for parents who love getting attention in a custody battle. I mean… we literally have pages on here where we follow a custody dispute and it’s because they love the support and attention from others. I’m not saying they enjoy their kids in harms way but it’s weird how much they love attention from it and are disappointed you don’t want the tea or treat it like gossip.
