It takes place in Night City roughly one year before the events of Cyberpunk 2077. 1. Plot Overview The story follows David Martinez, a bright street kid struggling to fit in at the prestigious Arasaka Academy. After a tragic street shooting costs him his mother, Gloria, and leaves him broke and alienated, David finds a military-grade cyberware implant called the Sandevistan among her belongings. Instead of selling it, he has it installed, gaining superhuman speed. Soon after, he meets Lucy, a skilled Netrunner who introduces him to a crew of mercenary outlaws—known as Edgerunners or Cyberpunks—led by Maine. As David sinks deeper into the mercenary underworld alongside memorable crew members like Rebecca, he continually replaces his body with heavier cybernetics to protect those he loves, driving closer to the deadly edge of Cyberpsychosis. 2. Main Characters David Martinez: The reckless protagonist who pushes his biological limits with heavy cyberware to honor his mother's memory and protect his team.
