My hygienist use to just let me control the suction straw because I drool a lot during my appointments and it would drive me crazy. It’s hard to communicate when they are cleaning your teeth.

Wait, patients are handling this? I have only ever had one that hooks to the side of the mouth and then the assistant does it when the dentist is busy and there needs to be an extra suction for the other side.

I get so nervous whenever they use it but I have a lot of dental issues so I get procedures often and my nurses are so sweet and go "close" then "open" but my weird ass brain is delayed so I'll just sit there trying to process open and eventually get it after like 5-10 seconds.
