Emmy G :
I didn’t think Airbnb allowed owners to keep cameras inside the home. I thought it was only allowed outside

The Drunken Gardener :
I would report it to AirBNB and demand they remove the owners rating as well.

T Raine :
The reason why the owner never explicitly asked about the cameras is because if they admitted there were cameras there, they could lose their ability to rent out an airbnb.

Per Air B&B websight: “Airbnb prioritizes user privacy by banning indoor cameras and regulating outdoor devices. Airbnb prohibits indoor cameras and requires disclosure of outdoor cameras”

I think it’s even weirder how they immediately knew and were asking about a power outage….How often are they checking the cameras watching people??

CatsandBooks 🆘 🇺🇸 :
You definitely cannot have cameras in the inside of the home. And the ones on the outside need to be disclosed. The owner knew this because that’s why they worked on us about their electricity.

They can be outside but not inside. They are supposed to disclose the outdoor ones.

so for everyone saying they can have them inside in common areas... no they cannot. Airbnb has released a global ban on inside cameras and they only allow outdoor cameras for security purposes

Deanna Bridges :
I think OP should read and leave a rating of her own telling them exactly what the issues were so other people are warned because that is completely illegal

Listen if I want to walk thru the living room in nothing but my undies to go to kitchen and get a swallow of milk in the middle of the night. I don’t want someone else to see that on a camera. Period.

they are allowed in "common areas" if it's noted in the listing. that typically means shared spaces like yards or shared patios, etc. kitchen when the whole house is rented? yuck.
