I love seeing all the peacock Shadow Milk propaganda around but we NEED to consider that Pure Vanilla could ALSO peacock. . Pure Vanilla is the one reaching out to Shadow Milk and pursuing a relationship with him, in all reality. Shadow Milk does this weird thing where he leaves a lot unsaid, and right now I’m thinking of how when Pure Vanilla asked “Will you be my friend?” Shadow Milk thought about it, started screaming “You’re nothing! I hate you! I hate everything about you!” And then fought a little bit, and ran away. Like that’s definitely an implied ‘no’ but he never says the word ‘No’, which you’d expect to be the answer. He treats Pure Vanilla’s question as a rhetorical one, which is really sad. He does the same thing when Pure Vanilla says “We can work together!” After escaping the milk lake during the war, Shadow Milk doesn’t say ‘no’ he says “I don’t care about anything you say!”. In a way, Shadow Milk isn’t denying Pure Vanilla’s offers, he’s denying that they exist by not acknowledging them. Kinda like a kid who puts their hands over their ears and goes ‘lalala I can’t hear you!’. . This is a direct contrast to how he treated Recluse, to how Shadow Milk really wanted to hear Recluse’s thoughts all the time. Shadow Milk felt safe with Recluse’s thoughts and opinions, because his mindset was ‘we are one in the same’, and Shadow Milk isn’t scared of HIS thoughts. But Shadow Milk starts separating himself from Pure Vanilla once he awakens, and he ignores all of Pure Vanilla’s wishes for them to be together because how could those ever be HIS thoughts? (Even though they were, at one point). I don’t know if this all makes sense, I’m rambling here. I just find it interesting how Shadow Milk is always running away and coming back instead of standing his ground on a definitive answer. He wants to reach out to Pure Vanilla by tormenting Pure Vanilla and turning him into another version of himself, but he also denies the idea that Pure Vanilla could try doing the same thing of reaching out. He wants to be understood, but he wants it to just HAPPEN, and on his terms and in the way he thinks it should happen, he doesn’t want to have to agree to it. Shadow Milk wants to be equals with Pure Vanilla by pulling Pure Vanilla down, not by getting pulled up, because that would mean admitting that he needs help and that he WANTS to be understood. Whenever Shadow Milk tries to drag Pure Vanilla down and it doesn’t work he acts like he’s failed, he denies the possibility that Pure Vanilla could truly understand him and still be able to stand strong. Because in all reality, each time Shadow Milk ‘plunges Pure Vanilla into deceit’, Pure Vanilla does recover from it with a deeper understanding of Shadow Milk. But when Pure Vanilla awakens, suddenly Shadow Milk is screaming that he ‘knows nothing’ and ‘understands nothing’ even though Pure Vanilla DID come to understand that they are two halves of the same whole (what Shadow Milk was saying the whole chapter). Shadow Milk refuses to believe there’s a possibility anyone could ever see what he’s seen and not forsake cookiekind. He refuses to believe that Pure Vanilla is ‘stronger’ than him. In a way, Shadow Milk acts sort of like the cookies he despised, the ones who deny the truth. Shadow Milk is exactly what he hates, a liar. . Try not to draw Shadow Milk chopped as hell on digital: challenge level impossible. Very silly post today, as are all of my fully digital works.
