Pro tip: Each kids clothes is one load. Help them load, move to dryer and put away. ONE kid. Linens and your stuff is separate. Most clothes can be washed on cold/cold anyway.

I’m so proud of you. Teaching kids to take responsibility for their own things is such a gift.

possible hot take..if folding is the speedbump that stops you doing laundry, then dont fold. i dont fold anything for my kids. theyve got a spot for each 'thing' - shirts/pants/PJs etc all have their own drawer. but they dont own stuff that gets super wrinkly, or if they do i hang it up. the only thing i fold is sheets and towels. dont sacrifice 'finished' for the sake of 'perfection'

This is great because you’re not just getting help for yourself, you’re giving them the tools they’ll need to thrive once they’re adults! You’d be surprised how many adults have to learn from scratch how to do laundry

We’re a family of 5 and my husband is a farmer. I’m constantly doing laundry. My best tip is one load a day (no matter what) in entirety. Must be washed and put away. I never feel overwhelmed with laundry when I stay on top of it like this. It takes a few mins and voila:)

They will reconsider throwing those clean clothes in the hamper if they know they have to fold them!

I’ve for 5 kids and this technique has really helped me. I spend a few days washing EVERYTHING so I started with a clean slate then I put one basket out. At the end of the day, what they wore goes into the basket and into the washer before bed. There will always be towels and sheets but the bulk of laundry has drastically minimized. At least it feels that way to me. 😂

🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 *Advice you didn't ask for* 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 -You should put the color coding on each bedroom door with maybe a name placard.. That way you can avoid the excuse of "Oh I forgot" "Oh, that's not mine." 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

And sometimes when you are drowning and just need to get it done, it's easier to do it yourself. Now that you're on the other side, yo have more of an opportunity to do so.

I color coded my kids too.. and they all had ONE assigned day each week to do their own laundry. I helped one kiddo per day… then peace to do my laundry on my day … it worked! They’re all adults now and very particular about their clothes!

I know this isn’t for everyone but I like to do laundry. I fold as soon as the dryer is done. They put their stuff away. Makes it more manageable for all of us. And I really like to fold while it’s hot, means no wrinkles.

wash each kid's clothes separately, if you have the closet space, hang all the clothes with a top&bottom as an outfit. We have enough clothes for 2 weeks so we only do laundry twice a month. They wash their own bedding and towels too.

Something that saved me w five kids was to assign a color to each one- their own bath towel, toothbrush, basket, bag, robe, etc. the towels color coded has saved me hundreds of loads by now

Best thing I ever did was hand off unloading the dishwasher to my 10 year old. I will come home from work and immediately load the dishwasher (since I come home with dirty dishes anyway) and having the already empty dishwasher is a godsend.
