Woman from Iceland here, we did it last year as well! 🇮🇸 We walked out from our jobs on the 50th anniversary of our women’s strike. To honor the fight of the women who came before us and to remind everyone and continue fighting for economic equity, care infrastructure and safety and rights 💪🏼🇮🇸 The job is not done yet!!

It’s a day we still celebrate to this day. It’s called Kvennafrídagurinn and a lot of women get the day off or work places close for the day so that we can come to getter to celebrate and remind people that we are here and we matter ♥️

Saturday would put this primarily on the shoulders of low wage earners. Its not fair to ask women making minimum wage to risk their jobs when the rest of us risk nothing. If it doesn't impact financial and public service industries, decision makers won't even notice anyway.
