I’m in the uk so laws are very different here, but I’ve seen a few posts of people saying that in certain states, especially New York, that if the person who was abused had been drinking or taking any kind of drug, that they don’t charge the abuser with rape? Is that true?

my frustration with the public response to the Baylor case, and now the Cornell case is that instead of the result being title ix reform across the board — the outcry is that those schools just absolutely suck and are the outliers, but my school is awesome. esp when you consider what’s at the heart of both cases: football and fraternities. what happened at those institutions, both the incidents & the way they were handled, are likely not exceptions. I’m a Baylor fan so a little biased — but in the sense that if you don’t think the same things happen at UT I have a beautiful beachfront home in Pflugerville to sell ya.

So only about 2-8% of rape allegations have proven to be false and only about a third of victims actually report … so while it does happen it’s not common as the mansophere is claiming and think we need to be really careful overstating that case as society defaults to she lied in all these cases … particularly in light of the Snapchat thread, photos and now phone records

I used to have a high opinion of Baylor until reading report after report about them blaming women for their 🍇. That Southern Baptist theology is very patriarchal. Now I am not naive, all universities have SA issues.
