@cypher.j: (if it's lagging you're early!) Find me one thing that exists before relation Relation: a structure of differentiation in which two or more terms are distinguishable relative to one another. To be relational does not mean “personally connected,” “interacting,” or “causally affecting each other.” It means that a distinction obtains through some relative structure: this/not-this, here/there, same/different, inside/outside, one/another, etc. For purposes of the challenge: Find one fully distinguishable thing whose identity as this rather than not-this requires no relational distinction whatsoever. If you have a counterexample, drop it below. #reality #philosophy

I genuinely wonder if you are pursuing a degree in philosophy. I think you would do great!

relation is used to distinguish one thing from another, it doesnt define the boundaries of its exestence

i have a proprietary world view that solves this to me. basically nothingness would be the logical starting point of reality but is simultaneously a cosmological contradiction as nothing would also be something. i call this eternity and oblivion. this creates a tension that needs to be resolved as per hagelian dialectics and synthesises into reality. like multiplying 0x0 but the product is 1 or the beginning of infinity. so 0x0 equals infinity. now look at 0x0. what do you see 😏

Relation is a construct of language and perception. It is not an inherent property of existence. Without a conscious mind to observe there is nothing that can perform relation. An object or force simply gives in to nature the way it works. I don’t believe language is evolved enough, if it ever could be, to describe what comes first. We don’t know how any of this works. We have an idea, and we’ve figured out a way to get that idea across as best as we can. We have artificially constructed everything we know, existence did not give us this system of thinking. So I think the root of the problem in answering this question is the fact that we are trying to fit existence into our understanding of it. Not shaping our understanding to existence.

Brother can you make a video on this current topic. Can a black person be pro black while dating outside the race? I just love hearing your viewpoint on these sort of topics.

Space no? There’s is no such thing as no space. If there’s something there’s space for that thing and if there’s nothing then there’s space for something. You can travel the whole universe and you will never find the opposite of space. (Or what you would call no space) there’s empty and full space but space is always there.

I hope you are teaching and writing books and recording these lessons. A philosopher of historical talent , something like Whitney Houston’s once in a life time vocals.

Yes because language and words do not describe or define “truth” they describe and define the difference between other things. This argument is an argument on communication as a whole. Comparisons and showing the relativity of two/ many things is such an intuitive way of communication that it is done inherently with not much effort. And I think the reason is because it is effective with a low “energy”consuming for biology. Well speaking relatively of course. jaja see what I did there :)

I like the thought experiment but relation is typically considered an extrinsic property, not an inherent property. Relation is a product of a framework, and frameworks are the product of external analysis.

"compared to what?" "as opposed to what?" because talking requires a shared understanding of what it is and what it isnt. To even be aware of a thing we need to see the environment its in and make a distinction

Doesn’t arguing that relation comes first fall into the same trap? Just as any attempt to point to a thing requires relation, doesn’t any attempt to point to relation require some relatum?

All includes nothing. All is non relational. You can not point to All because the pointing is also All. Thoughts anyone?
