Ps Attempted kidnapping and assault ⚠️ SELF-AWARENESS — PLEASE READ ⚠️ On the 3rd of October around 7:30 PM, I took an Uber home. The trip was R160. When we arrived, the driver said he had no change. I had R154, so I offered to give him that and put the remaining amount on the trip, but he refused. I then gave him R200, but he also had no change. I suggested we drive to a garage less than a kilometre away so I could get change. When we got there, he told me to get out and give him the R200 because I was “wasting his time.” I told him to take me back home and I would get the money, but he refused. After arguing for a few minutes, he told me he was going to drive off with me, take me to Kayelitsha and kill me. He then started driving with me still inside. The doors had child lock on. I panicked and started banging and kicking the windows, asking surrounding cars for help. I was sitting behind him and didn’t want to physically attack him because I was scared we could both get hurt. Eventually, a car blocked him and people started hooting and telling him to stop. When he stopped, I got out, but he dragged and pushed me while trying to drive away with my bags still inside the car. I managed to start recording. He then completely changed the story and claimed I didn’t want to pay him, even though the money was literally in my hand. There is also footage I don’t have of the moment he put his hands on me. Before driving away, he told me he knew where I lived, that he had seen where I stayed, and that he would find and kill me. A woman who witnessed everything offered to drive me home. When we got there, he was literally outside my gate. We were about to call the police when he drove away. I have reported the matter to Uber and the police, and I will be sharing the vehicle details. I’m sharing this because I want women to be aware that a normal Uber ride can turn dangerous very quickly. Trust your instincts, share your trip with someone, check your driver’s details and speak up if something feels wrong. And to everyone who stopped and helped me thank you. You genuinely helped save me. ❤️#gbvawareness @WOMENFORCHANGE✊🏼💜💜 #uberdriver
