@chelsea_weber3: Before cancer became part of our vocabulary, Maxim was simply a little boy growing up with his family. He had a childhood ahead of him, ordinary days to enjoy, memories to make and a future we imagined would unfold naturally. Then September 2020 arrived. Maxim was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, and suddenly the things we once took for granted became precious. Hospital visits replaced ordinary routines. Treatments became part of our lives. As a mother, I found myself learning how to be strong in situations I had never imagined facing. Through it all, Maxim remained a child. That is something I remind myself of often. Behind every medical report, every treatment and every difficult conversation is a young boy who deserves the chance to experience the simple things that childhood is supposed to bring. We hoped the treatments would eventually allow us to leave cancer behind. But the cancer returned. Now Maxim is facing his third relapse, and our family has had to continue the journey far beyond the place where it began. We have travelled from Russia to Spain, and Barcelona is now part of the road ahead. There are still many things that need to come together for his next stage of treatment. We are doing our best, and we continue to be grateful for everyone who has chosen to learn about Maxim and stay connected to his story.
