I noticed a weird pattern with these open relationships. It’s always that when a couple that is already married gets into polyamory (or more likely an open relationship) that one of them is dating another person of a problematic age gap 😭

As someone who's been polyamorous for almost a decade, if you start down this journey because you and your previous monogamous relationship have "lost a spark" just break up. Dating someone isnt going to fix your current relationship and its super gross to put that on someone else.

Open relationships are fine. You don’t have to divorce your spouse if you don’t want to. Sometimes the arrangement works, the help with the kids, the mortgage bills, keeping same quality of life etc. The problem is he put way more effort into the gf and wanted to be loved by two women instead of a casual hook up. That was not what they established. He still needs to put time into his own marriage and that’s why this open relationship didn’t work. The spouse has to have top priority even if you have the open marriage.
