@hamza_bouberbouche: You know, Preston Tucker was one of those guys who just wouldn't settle for the same old thing. While Detroit was still pushing out those warmed-over prewar designs, he builds this car in a Chicago warehouse with the engine in the back, doors that cut up into the roof so you don't knock your hat off, and that crazy Cyclops headlight in the middle that actually turns with the wheels. Ahead of its time, no question. He raises a bunch of money selling stock and dealer franchises before the cars are even ready, and that gets the SEC all over him. They hit him with 31 counts of fraud. At the trial the government's case is so thin the defense doesn't even bother calling a single witness. Jury finds him not guilty on everything, but by then the legal bills and the bad press have already killed the company. Only 51 of those cars ever made it out the door. #tucker48 #tuckertorpedo #classiccars #vintagecars #carhistory
