The payoff for puppies specifically is that they won’t grow up to be used for breeding. It’s rewarding for people who care about making dogs’ lives better 💕

Who doesn’t want puppy fun while also knowing it’s actually not forever? 🤦♀️

As the commenter in question - that makes sense! I think the only experience with fostering I’ve had (just seeing friends do it), the dog has stayed with them for SO long that, if they were a puppy, they’d need to be fully raising/training the dog. Just 13 days is totally different!

The payoff is that a life is saved! That’s the whole point of fostering no matter how much work it is. People just don’t get it 😮💨🤡

I've done a few mama dogs with litters. Young puppies are pretty easy (especially when you have the mama) - lots of work but easy work. I tell rescues "do not give me a foster puppy over 8 weeks" especially a single puppy - the WORST 🤣. Give me the mama and pups or a calm adult/senior. I want none of the craziness in between. (Of course I will take them if it's life or death and I have the room, but I might complain about it a little)

Love this! Someone once said to me “it’s a really nice thing you’re doing given you get nothing out of it” 🤨 🤨🤨it’s only the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done….

Also, like your caption says, adolescence 😅 I have a adolescent aussie right now and I will 100% say he is worse now than when he was a baby puppy 😂

I used to only foster adult dogs... then I took in a sick 5 week old puppy and before he was even 8 weeks old had a family. 3 weeks of love and care and he was out and on to the next. meanwhile my longest adult was in my house for 3 months!

you def saved a life!! but as a fellow foster, it’s also hard work, they come to you literally not knowing anything, just pee on the floor in front of you and chew everything. by the time most of my good fosters leave me, they’re 10x better than they were when they arrived. but it’s def worth it, they’re so sweet and loving.

I foster neonate kittens because they are easy for me to send off. We are not equipped for a year+ of teen kitten energy, and socialized babies can do well in almost any home that wants cats.

none of the pay off? you saved that baby's life and in turn opened up space for another animals life, there are multiple saves in fostering in one go.

Isabella is about 12 weeks old and she's been with me for a month! She's definitely got a piece of my heart but I'm just her resting spot before she finds her real mom.
I have my own grown dog and I don't want the financial or forever commitment of owning another dog right now, but I certainly have the spare room, love, and time for a temporary commitment.
(available for adoption in Canada for anyone watching lmao 😂)
