@alexhollings52: If Boeing will be building 6th generation fighters for both the US Air Force and the Navy, does that make the U.S. too reliant on one firm for its airpower? #military #aviation #Tech #miltok #airforce

With the problems Boeing have had in the recent past it does surprise me they were chosen

Serious question - why aren’t we prioritizing unmanned over manned 6th gen at this point? In the crawl-walk-run…I would think we are at run and manned planes are holding us back overall

do we think they actually built the best fighters or were they awarded the contract so they would stick around? thats what im worried about.

Tbh, it kinda makes sense, Lockheed builds F-16s and 5 Gen fighters and Boeing builds F-15s and F/A-18s and 6th Gen Fighters and Northrop build the avionics and core components of the aircrafts and build stealth bombers.

Doesn’t Lockheed also have updates and upgrades for the f-35 they’re trying to iron out right now? Along with some for the f-22?

You are making the assumption that they are 2 different planes and not one variant.

after 25 years of aerospace engineering between Northrop and Lockheed. id bet there is a lot of carry over parts between the air force and navy which is why Boeing got the navy contract to.

I wonder if the same people were making the same complaints about Lockheed with the F-22 and 35

Are we going to change the number for the next jet to go back to the consecutive numbering of planes? Instead of a massive jump like we did from 22 to 35

I’m a big fan of everything Lockheed from fighters to missles they are bad ass I believe Northrop Grumman is number 2 for me and Boeing a 3rd I hope the F-47 doesn’t have front canards me personally I think it makes the plane not look cool all of our fighters going back to the F-14 have always looked bad ass..just look at China’s J-20 it looks like shit

Boeing is lead contractor, so you can expect that a significant portion of work will still be done by Lockheed and N-G.

JJ :
I don’t think so due to Lockheed Martin controlling 5th gen which notably the f35 alone is filling 3 different branches roles along side the f22 as an air dominance fighter.
