I opened a small restaurant in Ontario in 2003, the guy who loaned me the start up money told me once I make money dont buy a new car! Apparently our little town would hate my success and quit supporting it. He was absolutely right 💯

I appreciate that when someone actually lives in another country they could do the comparisons most Canadians never lived in United States or worked, made money in the United States, but they always want to compare

I suspect this originates in the long established awareness of social rank within Canada’s society. In the U.S., most do not recognize pre-set social rankings based on birth and family to such an extent.
