Carmen :
my bd got his job working for the city by knowing someone who was working there first and put in a good word for him.. a lot of the times I feel like it's based on who you know 🤷🏼

This is reminding me of those pictures of people waiting in line for the possibility of work back during the Great Depression.

As a city worker you can apply at this website —— https://cityjobs.nyc.gov —— they have openings for all agencies within all 5 boroughs. You don’t necessarily need a college degree just filter out by education level but they have openings for positions for people with high school diplomas all the way to graduate degrees. Just know the process does take months it’s not instant but apply consistently and you’ll hear back.

Unfortunately…The game to any city/federal/state job is you have to k ow someone, that’s why ppl from the outside can’t get in, bc someone inside is pulling all of their friend/family. They need to change this, I mean I get it but limit it a bit 🤦🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️

I had to take an exam and wait 4 years to get called back for a city job, they don’t just hand u a job many jobs do require testing and being qualified. But you’re right it is a sign that things are tough
