@bellasbookreadss: 5 stars!! ⭐️ “Men will never respect you if you try to be like them.” Gráinne lifts her head and meets her mother’s gaze. “Then how will they respect me?” “They won’t, not unless you make them.“ 🔥 wowwww what a stunning book. it took me awhile to get through and i am sad it’s over! i had heard mixed opinions on the way this book is organized. each chapter is either maiden, mother, or matriarch, and it is always jumping through time. i agree that i had to occasionally remind myself what era of her life the chapter was in, but i actually thought this set up made this book so unique and special. 🙌🏼 it’s worth the extra attention. the way it all came together in the end was beautiful. not every book needs to be a ‘quick easy read’. grainne (or grace) was SO COOL!!! a literal pirate!!! ahhh i’m obsessed with her. what a genius life to center a novel around. while of course this book is only inspired by her, since there is little known historically, i was completely enamored. 🤩 this novel was so well researched and i learned a lot about this time in history! i loved how we saw glimpses of her being a wife, mom, sea captain, and queen. women are amazing. i could honestly talk for hours about this book but i would highly recommend!! it requires a good bit of attention but i absolutely loved it. 🌊 content ratings: 🌶️🌶️ brief scenes & moderate language and violence throughout.
