@illinois247news: Seven-year-old Eddimar Hernández Chacón was fatally stabbed while walking with her 17-year-old sister near the 8600 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue in Chicago’s Chatham neighborhood around 11:55 a.m. Saturday, October 3. She was rushed to Comer Children’s Hospital, where she died. Bystanders intervened and detained the suspect until police arrived. Authorities charged Shavon Gayden, 48, with first-degree murder in what prosecutors described as an unprovoked attack. Gayden remained hospitalized with a head injury and did not appear at Monday’s court hearing. A judge ordered her to remain detained, with a full detention hearing scheduled for Wednesday, October 7.
