I never knew that crack smelled like an electrical fire, but that acrid odor is unmistakable. Thanks for the info. Signed, a mother of a teenager

And after living in Colorado and California, I now know that pot smells like really stinky skunks

Could be an electrical short, could be crack....or it could be perimenopause. I smell something burning all the time. It started when we moved into our brand new house, so I spent hours smelling walls and outlets trying to track the smell. It was almost 2 years before I realized what it was.

When cops evacuated us from our house because neighbors had a meth lab, they asked if I'd noticed the strong ammonia smell & why didn't I report it, but I just thought they were cleaning. 😅

Our human noses are so awful. I'm envious of dogs who can trace a smell to it's origin cuz there are so many times I find a weird smell and can never figure out what's causing it 😂

It's not the Crack itself, it's the steel wool used as a filter in the pipe. Hot metallic smell from heated metal fibers.

There’s actually a secret 3rd option. Our dog got skunked and it legitimately made our house smell like an electrical fire for the first 15 minutes she was in the house and we didn’t know where the smell is coming from

as a child I used to position the light switch in the middle and it made that smell. I didn't realize that smell was familiar to my early childhood and that was crack. thanks mom.

Wait. I have hyperosmia and the number of times I’ve walked around the outside of my house because it smells ‘hot’ or I can smell it on my porch (I live in a post industrial inner city neighborhood so drugs are definitely present), and have thought I was losing my mind, and now I’m certain this is what I was smelling?!

Huh I legit came out of the bathroom last night and smelt what I thought was a short. Even unplugged my new to me free old TV just in case even though the TV smelt fine. It is extremely plausible that one of my neighbours was smoking crack.
