You should do a quick comparison in income taxes on 1 million income in bc vs, Oregon (a similar coast state.).. bc you would keep 512k, oregon 526k. Wow crazy difference. And don’t forget 2.35% for Medicare and social security deductions.

isn’t this only on everything you make over $190k. I make around this much but lowkey stupid because I’m a trades worker but it doesn’t really affect me right even if I make $195k it’s just the $5k that’s taxed higher.

Tax rates for the wealthy historically were much higher than they are now. If income tax for the richest doesn't go up, then a wealth tax should be put in.

This will make a lot of people to incorporate their business. Secondly, it is only a proposal, so it might not even pass.

200k for a family in Vancouver where only 1 spouse is the breadwinner doesn’t do much and being taxed that much along with property taxes, GST, PST etc that’s not much left to pay bills and mortgage and food

Why is it being called a “millionaires tax” when the tax increase starts at $190k. It’s misleading but what do you expect from Eby.

So the argument is: (1) the tax increase will encourage wealthy people to leave and (2) no wealthy people would actually pay it

as a cpa you’d figure out a way to balance it out. the income tax act has endless applications to not lose much or anything.

thank you for this post. the complete misunderstanding on the CCPC owner or PSC operator. you can time and decide the type of taxation you attract.

Scare off ppl* - I doubt taxes do that to established businesses. I could see that if you were looking to start a new business you might weigh taxes as being a factor, but for established businesses the cost of moving far exceeds the tax
