Travelling with a picky eater can be STRESSFUL 😮‍💨 My son basically lives off yogurt and pasta. It’s embarrassing to admit, but when we went to Spain last year we spent a lot of time hunting down McDonalds and pizza 🍕 ✨ Here are my tips for travelling with picky eaters Note: these tips are also great for kids who have ALLERGIES! ⚠️ 👩‍🍳 Choose accommodations with a kitchen. I’ve talked about the value of vacation rentals when travelling with kids before, but picky eaters are a big reason you need a kitchen. 🛒 Do a big grocery shop when you arrive for snacks, fresh fruit, and easy meals like cream cheese sandwiches. Look up grocery stores in your city and pin where they’re located in proximity to your accommodations. Some grocery stores have online ordering - it can save you a lot of time to make a list of what they offer. 🧃While you’re pinning, scope out smoothie and juice shops - they’re a great way to throw in some nutrition for everyone 🥨 Pack snacks in your suitcase. YES you’re allowed to bring food from home (even if you travel carryon only). Each country has their own restrictions so you’ll need to double check (e.g. meat & dairy are usually a no-no) but generally you’re fine bringing fave staples like pouches, granola bars, and individual packs of nut butter. 🍽️ Research restaurant menus. I don’t cater my restaurant choices around my kids picky eating because for me food is such an important part of travelling BUT knowing what’s on the menu ahead of time helps me know if there’s something my kids will eat or if I need to pack a more balanced snack box (which brings me to my next tip) 🥑 Bring a snack box to restaurants. Goldfish and pouches are great for on the go, but a legitimate bento style lunchbox helps you pack a variety of healthier options for kids to eat during meals out like fresh fruit, cheese, avocado, olives, hummus, etc. 🤷‍♀️ Don’t stress. It’s okay if your kid only eats spaghetti and tomato sauce for every meal. Rules are meant to be broken on vacation and you can all get back to a normal routine when you’re home. ✨ How do you handle travelling with a picky eater?!
