I was only 2 years old but I swear remembering feeling the dark presences in my home and area I’ve lived in NP since then. Growing up in the same area till this day it still hits hard.

So personal! My mum used to live in the same flat as Dami’s family and had moved out a year before due to consistent issues in the area. So when news of Dami’s passing came out my mum was heart broken for years because she said there were so many children consistently at risk and very little was being done

I was 6 and half months old in 2000 . I watched the documentary so sad he would have been 37 years old this year am only 26 . But London back then was rife in the 2000s war zone

Sooo familiar! I too had a silver jacket and was bullied because of my name. When John said ‘I didn’t know kids could die’ - that’s exactly how I felt

Everything you said is exactly on point. I went to Oliver Goldsmith (circa Mrs Kingston and Mr Parsons) and lived on North Peckham Estate. My dad was on the board of governors in the 90’s and raised many of these issues but it fell on deaf ears. Everything in the doc highlighted the very real survival plan our parents instilled in us from such tender ages, the silent battles we all fought, the bullying that we normalised for simply being Nigerian children 💔💔 The system failed us, the system failed Damilola 💔

I literally can’t bring myself to watch it bc I know I’ll be an emotional messss. We lived right next to the school and my older brother even went there. My parents took him out immediately and changed his school as soon as it happened. They then eventually they moved us out of London completely. It shook my parents fr. You’re so right about changing the trajectory of a lot of our lives.

I used to see the story sparingly growing up in Naij on TV and felt a little sad but not attached. But now living here raising kids, his story feels closer and frightening that my kids can be exposed to this reality now
