At my age I have unfortunately had to have pets euthanized and each time was pain free and quick

Damn. It just brought back all those memories of putting my 15 year old husky down. My vet is the best and has so much compassion and empathy. He explained everything to me as he was ready to do each injection. And yes, it seemed very humane and he just went to sleep. I miss him so much. And now I'm in tears. 😭

As a nurse, my guess is that the IV was not in the vein, so the Pentobarbital went into the arm tissue instead of directly into the bloodstream, therefore, it was slowly absorbed by the body. It has been reported that the staff had a difficult time inserting an IV. She was stuck with the needle several times before an IV was inserted into both arms. Prison nurses don’t have much experience inserting IVs. And the snoring that could be heard by those who were in the viewing room, was not Christa Pike sleeping/snoring. Those were sonorous respirations that occur when a person becomes unconscious, and the tongue falls to the back of the throat, causing an obstruction, and making a very loud snoring-like noise.

What’s the protocol for MAID and how does that differ from doing for an execution?

Isn’t this the pink liquid used to euth horses? They always get sedated first.
